We recently received a KuKirin G2 2026 and installed a complete XOD H-Series hydraulic brake setup on the actual scooter. The main question was simple: does the new G2 with 160mm rotors still use the same XOD brake combination as the earlier 140mm version?
In our test, it does. Both generations use XOD H880 at the front and H800 at the rear. The important differences are not the XOD caliper models themselves, but the rotor size and the way the caliper mounting hardware is assembled.

What Changed on the KuKirin G2 2026?
The G2 2026 retains the familiar 800W motor and 48V 15Ah battery platform. For XOD brake fitment, however, one hardware update matters more than the others: both the front and rear brake rotors have increased from 140mm to 160mm.
The earlier KuKirin G2 uses 1.9mm × 140mm rotors front and rear. Our G2 2026 uses 1.9mm × 160mm rotors front and rear.
The larger 160mm rotors did not change the basic XOD caliper combination in our test. We retained the original 160mm rotors and installed H880 front + H800 rear.
How to Tell the Older KuKirin G2 from the 2026 Version
The easiest clues are the front-end design and brake rotor size. The 2026 version uses the updated front-fender design and 160mm rotors, while the earlier G2 uses 140mm rotors.

Critical Difference: Older G2 and G2 2026 Use Different Caliper Bracket Setups
This is the installation detail most likely to be missed if you have already worked on an older G2.
For the G2 2026 setup we tested, do not use the bracket supplied with the XOD caliper. Reuse the original KuKirin caliper bracket, original bolts and original metal washers.
At the front wheel, the metal washers must sit between the XOD H880 caliper and the original KuKirin bracket to maintain the required rotor clearance.
Front Wheel: H880 + 160mm Rotor + 4mm Spacer
The front wheel needs the most careful alignment. The XOD hydraulic caliper is wider than the original mechanical caliper, so rotor offset and mounting hardware position matter.
1Install the 4mm Rotor Spacer on the Front Wheel Only
The spacer sits between the front hub and brake rotor and moves the rotor outward to create additional clearance for the hydraulic caliper.
The older G2 keeps its original 140mm rotor, while the G2 2026 keeps its original 160mm rotor. The spacer adjusts rotor position; it is not a replacement rotor.
Front-Wheel Washer Position: Two Details to Check
1. Front axle metal spacer position
The front-wheel metal spacer around the axle must be positioned correctly so the rotor mounting hardware does not rub against the frame.
2. Caliper washers on the G2 2026
For the 2026 front setup, reuse the original KuKirin metal washers and place them between the XOD H880 caliper and the original KuKirin bracket.
Before final tightening, rotate the wheel by hand and confirm that the rotor passes through the caliper without the rotor or mounting hardware pressing against the caliper body.
Rear Wheel: H800 + Original 160mm Rotor
The rear installation is more straightforward. Our G2 2026 uses the XOD H800 and retains the original 160mm rear rotor.
No additional 4mm rotor spacer was required at the rear.
Why Does the KuKirin G2 Need a Brake-Sensor Adapter?
The XOD brake lever includes a motor power-off sensor, but the KuKirin G2 display wiring does not use the same direct 2-pin connection found on many other scooters.
The dedicated adapter cable allows the XOD sensor to connect to the G2 wiring without unnecessarily cutting or modifying the new XOD sensor cable.
An experienced technician can reuse or modify the original brake-lever connector, but the dedicated adapter is the simpler solution for most owners because it avoids unnecessary wire modification.
Brake Hose Installation
If you need to reconnect or route the hydraulic hose after installing the levers and calipers, use the dedicated tutorial rather than guessing the fitting order.

Light Rubbing Noise After Installation? What We Observed
Immediately after completing the G2 2026 installation, we noticed a slight rubbing sound from the new brake pads contacting the rotor.
In our test, the sound gradually reduced after roughly 5 km of riding as the new pads began to bed in. This was a normal bedding-in observation from this specific G2 2026 test, not a brake-quality defect.
If the wheel is difficult to rotate, the rotor is pressing hard against the caliper, or the noise remains severe, stop riding and recheck caliper alignment, washer position and rotor clearance.

KuKirin G2 2026 XOD Brake Upgrade FAQ
Do XOD hydraulic brakes fit the KuKirin G2 2026?
Yes. In our real G2 2026 test, we used XOD H880 at the front and H800 at the rear while retaining the original 160mm rotors.
Which XOD brake fits the front of the KuKirin G2 2026?
The tested front configuration uses XOD H880.
Which XOD brake fits the rear of the KuKirin G2 2026?
The tested rear configuration uses XOD H800.
Does the G2 2026 need a 4mm brake rotor spacer?
Yes, but only on the front wheel in our tested setup. The rear wheel does not require an additional 4mm spacer.
Do I need to replace the original 160mm brake rotors?
No. In our G2 2026 test, the original 160mm front and rear rotors were retained.
Does the older KuKirin G2 need replacement rotors?
No. The older G2 already uses 1.9mm × 140mm rotors front and rear. The XOD upgrade keeps those original rotors and uses a 4mm spacer on the front wheel only.
Do the older G2 and G2 2026 use the same caliper bracket?
No. The older G2 uses the bracket supplied with the XOD brake together with the original KuKirin bolts and metal washers. For the G2 2026 setup we tested, do not use the XOD-supplied bracket; reuse the original KuKirin bracket, bolts and washers.
Where do the metal washers go on the G2 2026 front caliper?
In our tested front installation, the original metal washers are positioned between the XOD H880 caliper and the original KuKirin bracket.
Why is there a slight rubbing sound after installing new brakes?
In our G2 2026 test, a light rubbing sound gradually reduced after about 5 km as the new brake pads bedded in. Heavy rubbing or poor wheel rotation should be treated as an alignment problem and checked before normal riding.
Final Fitment Result
The 2026 KuKirin G2 changes the brake rotors from 140mm to 160mm, but the core XOD caliper combination remains unchanged.
Front: XOD H880 + original 160mm rotor + 4mm front rotor spacer.
Rear: XOD H800 + original 160mm rotor, no additional 4mm spacer.
Bracket: reuse the original KuKirin bracket rather than the XOD-supplied bracket.
Hardware: reuse the original KuKirin bolts and metal washers; front washers sit between the XOD caliper and original bracket.
Sensor: use the dedicated KuKirin G2 brake-sensor adapter.
The biggest lesson from comparing the two generations is simple: the XOD H880/H800 combination stays the same, but the mounting hardware should not be copied blindly from the older G2 to the 2026 version.
